MCMS Grading Policy

One of the biggest changes from elementary school is that students now earn percentage grades, so all work counts.

Students receive report cards 4 times a year that have percentage grades earned for each subject during that marking period.  The 4th report card also has a final-average percentage grade.  The percentage grade for each of the marking periods counts as one-fourth (1/4) of that subjects final-average grade.  (Exception is a course that lasts only 1 semester, which receives 2 report card percentage grades and a final average percentage grade).  The final grade determines if a student passes or fails a class and that is based on the grade divisions shown below.

Math final grade                     Science Final Grade                Art Final Grade

      40+70+75+80=265                      55+55+81+81= 272                         75+57= 132

     265 divided by 4 = 66                  272 divided by 4 = 68                 132 divided by 2 = 66

IPR (Interim Progress Reports) for deficient grades (D or E) are tsnet home for parents/guardians to sign at the mid-point of each marking period.

GRADING POLICY – MIDDLE SCHOOL

If a student in middle school fails two major subjects he or she will not be promoted.

If a student in middle school fails two minor courses and one major course he or she will not be promoted.

What if I am absent?  Upon returning to school it is the STUDENT’S responsibility to contact their teachers to find out about any work that was missed.  A student has 1 (ONE) day for each day of absence to complete the makeup work obligations.  If you have been absent for 3 or more days then assignments may be obtained from teachers for you to work on at home.  A parent or guardian should contact the Guidance Office 24 hours before they plan to pick up the work.
